What color should I paint my kitchen?
I want to repaint kitchen--have oak cabinets in a honey maple finish. The countertops are a green-grey formica (that I want to replace, but have to live with for now). The floor is oak and matches the cabinets. I have a white glossy ceramic tile backsplash & white appliances that I also have to keep. The kitchen opens to my family room which is a light tan. I have very traditional furniture--colors are maroon, blue, dark green. My dining room/living room is a camel color. I want the room colors to flow--currently the kitchen is a medium green (with more blue tones). Also the kitchen has heavy afternoon sun and it gets really bright. So I would like to stick with cool tones. I thought about sage, but it does not contrast well with the white tile. There is really not a lot of wall to paint. I display some baskets, some antique cookie jars and antique copper measures on top of the cabinets. Should I go darker? Help!
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. Personally, I would go with "rustic red" (# 7593) based on your description. But since you say you want a cool tone, then maybe check out "ornamental kale" (# 7167) from their SoftSuede faux finish collection.
