Is it safe to throw out burnt food?
I just microwaved a special type of bread dessert in the microwave for too long and it left a whole burning smell throughout the house. But the plate plus the piece of bread are burned and I'm wondering if it's safe to throw both the plate and bread in the trash. Or can they catch on fire even though they aren't hot?

Run some cold water on the entire mess, make it damp, then throw it out before anybody finds out about your cooking disaster..
