Why Are We So Obsessed With Royal Weddings?
Where I live, in Ontario, Canada, some of the shop owners closed their stores, and stayed home to watch the Royal Wedding on Friday. Where I work we set up a theatre so people who were interested could come in for free and watch the replay of the wedding ceremony. We served tea in china cups and saucers, petite sandwiches and dainties and we even sent out invitations to people asking the women to wear gloves and hats. It wasn't mandatory, but just for fun. I think it was great that everyone was so excited about it, but I was satisfied watching the highlights on the evening news. How many shared the tremendous enthusiasm?
It gives the dead the impression that they have a life. The trouble is people don't realize the subliminal proposition behind all the exaggerated media coverage. They finally think that it is good to have a few extremely rich people living off their hard earned tax dollars.
