who "coined" or came up with the word Disco?
Just curious .... its not a bid deal -- i love disco - grew up in the 70's, KC and the Sunshine Band, Dazz Band, the Barkays, Wild Cherry, Taste of Honey, Parliament, LakeSide, Ohio Player, Gloria Gaynor, Grand Master Flash, the Brothers Johnson, Rick James, old school funk and disco, name your faves and pass it on -- fun fun fun! and if you know where the word disco came from -- the authentic origin add that in too, Studio 54 -- here we come! wheeee put on your platforms-- i igot mine!
p.s. i am streaming disco off of yahoo launhcast right now --- click on the title of song and jump on my stream -- and shake it down --- down down right on down town! LOL
i think i should have put this in music -- soul and r & B -- oooops trying to move it but i can't i will keep trying -- sorry P&S fans
Funny you should ask, because a site called FirstMention.com looks into the history and origin of common words, phrases, names, and so on, and they just did an entry on disco:
http://firstmention.com/disco.aspx
They date it back to a 1963 write-up in Time Magazine. 1963??? Can you believe it?
