Carpenter Ants have invaded my bedroom....help?
I went upstairs not too long ago and saw little black spots on the walls and curtains. when I got closer I realized they were moving AND they were ants 
. they appear to be carpenter ants as about 1/2 of them have wings.
they are everywhere, I read online of putting boric acid mixed with sugar and water and I put that in a bowl near where a swarm of them were hanging out, they freaked out and ran around for at least 2 minutes.
the room is messy, I won't deny that, but I won't be able to sleep with ants all around me, even if they don't necessarily bite. what is the best solution for getting rid of them? they seem to be isolated to the bedroom (16x30' room), I also don't see any sawdust trails to find their nest, though it could be outside as I have 2 tree stumps outside.
if they are a small ant they aren't' carpenter ants...note that all ant species will have some with wings. You might try opening the window and checking the track of the window frame. If they are in there hitting the entire colony with any generic insecticide will get them, even hair spray in a pinch will stop what you are having if you can get to an exposed colony You didn't mention where you are located but here in north Texas I have had a half a dozen cases of ants around the windows and all I had to do was to open up the window to find the colony tucked away in the aluminum track of the window. Really hard to guess what to do in your situation without seeing it..sometimes the boric acid can work, usually it does not.
