Yes we Americans really indulge in overeating. There are solutions to this problem. I currently reside overseas, but when I eat in the US I always ask that one half of my food be put into a doggy bag to be taken with me before it comes to the table. That way I do not eat more than one half of the meal. Or I often order a senior meal as they usually have less food for less money. Or I just ask if they will prepare a smaller portion of the food so as not to waste it. Any of these work well and I find I do not overeat.
