Baby Shower food ideas for a large crowd?
I am going to be doing the cooking for my friends baby shower. There is going to be 15-20 people. I really want to make something delicious. I have had some ideas, but alot of things are not terribly hard to make to but not easy to make for a large crowd. I will be cooking at her sisters house, and her kitchen is not fully equipped and I dont want to have to lugg all kinds of things (I live an hour away) like serving bowls, pots, knives, etc over from my home. So I am looking for something that is fairly low maintence. I thought of Fettucinne Alfredo, but thats wayyy more pasta than I want to make. Caeser Salad with Chicken wouldnt be too bad, but not everyone likes Caeser Salad. So its a gamble. I am defintely making a cake, and pretty sure I am going to make my Mixed Green Salad with Candied Pecans and Dried Cherries with a Raspberry Vineagarette and some type of simple Bruschetta. Any ideas and advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!!

I think you have the right idea with the salad. People love them, and mixing some healthier ones with some decadent ones works.
Try 7 layer salad, or a pasta salad. Or Waldorf salad[but that one needs to be chopped up fresh, so the apples do not brown or the nuts get soggy. The pasta salad can, and the the layered salad should be done the night before.
You can even do taco salad. Cut up the lettuce, made the hamburger mix, and leave the taco sauce, the chips, the green onion, the black olives the bowls in their containers for the trip. Buy already shredded cheddar. When you get to your sisters, open everything up, re-heated the hamburger, crunch the chips, and serve.
Your vinaigrette sounds like a winner, too.
And the cake is a good idea too, might pick a sturdy one that won't slide about on it's own layers.
Consider lasagna, made the day before. Just make sure you bring extra sauce for it, as it can get dry in the refrig. buy some garlic bread at the store, and make your salad and cake.
If you are really smart, you can drag some of the stuff to your sister's the day before, and then you can arrive at the party looking great, not like you just carried sacks of groceries in from the car. Fix the salads, throw them and the groceries in the car and go. Show up early for the party with a present in your hand and a smile on your face.
